Herbsaint is an anise-flavored liqueur and popular substitute for absinthe. It was first introduced in New Orleans in 1934, where it was an important addition to Sazeracs until absinthe was re-legalized in 2007. This particular bottle of Herbsaint Original was developed in in 2009 in honor of the company's 75th anniversary. It's claimed to be the brand's original recipe dating back to 1934, and is bottled at 100 proof.
Upon its introduction, Herbsaint Original quickly found favor among bartenders and experts, winning a Gold Medal at the 2010 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
