Ancho Reyes is a spicy liqueur flavored with ancho chile peppers (aka, dried poblano). The base spirit is distilled from cane sugar, and the recipe is based on an original infusion concocted by the Reyes family in 1927.
Ancho Reyes hails from Puebla, Mexico, and has become a staple of modern cocktail bars. Considering the relative dearth of spicy cocktail ingredients, that's not surprising—it goes great in all kinds of tequila and mezcal cocktails, and can be used to add some zip to plenty of other drinks.
