Champagne Henri Giraud Celebrates 400 Years

Champagne Henri Giraud launched a new website, famillegiraudhemart400ans.com, to mark the 400-year anniversary of its family. The Giraud-Hémart story is recounted in “cinematic” beginning in 1625 with its winemaking history in the Aÿ terroir, when parish records first recognized “bourgeois winegrowers.” From François Hémart, the family’s founding ancestor, to Emmanuelle Giraud, current president of the house, via Henri Giraud, WWII hero and postwar winemaking trailblazer, each generation is chronicled. Champagne Henri Giraud uses oak from the historic Argonne Forest, championing sustainable viticulture free of pesticides. The current owner of the house is 12th-generation Claude Giraud. His son, Emmanuelle Giraud-Patour, manages the company and his son-in-law, Sébastien Le Golvet, is the Chef de Cave.
