Review: Wynk THC Seltzers and Lemonades

Wynk is a new brand of canned THC beverages, each simply constructed and designed for easy approachability. The company offers both sparkling waters/seltzers and a collection of lemonades, all packaged in 12 oz cans.

Note that the THC dosage varies between the two lines: Seltzers each have 5mg each of THC and CBD. Lemonades each have 10mg of THC only. (Low-dose versions of all of these products are also available, each with 2.5 to 3mg of THC.)

Thoughts on the full lineup follow, starting with the seltzers.

Wynk Black Cherry Fizz Seltzer + THC – The light lavender-hued concoction is fetching in the glass, and those classic black cherry aromas are immediate and quite pleasant. On the palate, the cherry notes are significantly more muted, but the aroma does the heavy lifting, and like other Wynk seltzer variants the whole affair is heavily carbonated, giving it a mouth-cleansing quality that quickly vanishes. One of my favorites. A-

Wynk Cran-Blood Orange Seltzer + THC – Pleasant and fruity, with a nice citrus bite and a gentle bitterness driven by the cranberry component (and some vaguely present terpenes). A significant fizz ensures the concoction comes across as clean and gentle, its fruit fading into the background as it leaves behind a light spritz of floral perfume, seemingly coming out of nowhere. B+

Wynk Tangerine Seltzer + THC – Lightly flavored with both citrus and terpenes, the fruit is indistinct but vaguely orangey, and certainly nothing I could identify as tangerine. Imagine a La Croix with half the flavor level and you’re on the right path. The terpene quality is most evident upon freshly pouring out the can and on the nose, but it vanishes from the palate in short order. Mostly harmless. B

Wynk Juicy Mango Seltzer + THC – Not just mango — juicy mango! Indeed, the fruitiness on display here is initially outsized in comparison to some other Wynk products, and while the flavor is appropriately tropical, there’s something about the way it melds with the terpenes in the recipe to make its mangoness indistinct, particularly on the finish, which comes across as quite drying as the up-front fruit quickly vanishes. B

Wynk Lime Seltzer + THC – Surprisingly strong in lime flavor compared to other Wynk products; in fact it might be the most heavily flavored of the lot. Unfortunately, the lime has a very sour, biting quality, reminiscent of powdered citric acid. The harsh, almost chemical lime character is effective at tempering any terpene notes, but there’s a price to be paid for that. C+

And now for the trio of sparkling lemonades.

Wynk Lemonade Seltzer + THC – That extra THC is evident in the stronger terpene nose, which is slightly muddy and skunky. A very bright, sweet-and-sour lemon quality helps temper the cannabinoid funk on the palate, but the weed-like aroma on the nose is never out of view. Ultimately I preferred the gentler and more subtle seltzer products. B-

Wynk Raspberry Lemonade Seltzer + THC – Sweeter than the lemonade and very fruity, with a red Jolly Rancher character that isn’t particularly obvious as raspberry but which endures on the palate. Slightly citrusy on the finish, somewhere between lemon and orange. There’s less of a terpene character here — clearly because of the fruit bomb tossed in the can. C+

Wynk Strawberry Lemonade Seltzer + THC – Not overly different than the raspberry version, though arguably a bit more saccharine, with a strong, unnatural aftertaste. I drank less of this one than any of the other expressions, as the faux fruit quickly became overwhelming. C-
