Baltimore Spirits Company Celebrates Fifth Anniversary

Baltimore Spirits Company (BSC) today announced to celebrate their fifth year of operation they will be releasing a special edition Bottled-in-Bond version of their flagship, award-winning Epoch Rye Whiskey. The new expression, Epoch Rye Wooden Anniversary Limited Edition, is the first Bottled-in-Bond Maryland rye whiskey to be distilled and aged in Baltimore in at least 50 years. Bottled-in-Bond is a special designation for spirits that are the product of one distillation season that have been aged for at least four years and bottled at exactly 50% ABV. The product must be made by a single distillery and aged in a federally bonded warehouse under government supervision. Bottled-in-Bond spirits are unique to the United States due to the Bottled-In-Bond Act of 1897, which was passed as a response to a widespread drop in quality of American spirits that also created insurances for tax collection. It has been at least 50 years since any bottled in bond spirit was produced in Baltimore City limits, and possibly since the end of Prohibition.
